Welcome to my new Blog - Isolation - Through the garden window

Updated: May 10, 2020

We all need a little cheering up right now, and I have been looking at ways of using my #glass skills to bring a little brightness into our days whilst we are spending our time at home in isolation during #lockdown

The way #stainedglass interacts with light, the magical luminescence it has as it changes through the hours, creating new moods, new perspectives from moment to moment, has got me thinking about a new collection of work that I hope will bring you joy. My new project is called #Isolation - Through the Garden Window.

I hope you like my first piece - By the pond - look out for my next post which will take you through the journey of how this piece was created.

Last September, I relocated and moved my #fusedglass studio, myself and my cat, Luna, into a 1930's style house on the #WestSussex Coast. The garden is as close to an #EnglishCountryCottageGarden - with a touch of the exotic - as ever I could have wished for. Stocked with hundreds of varieties of flowering plants, the #Magnolia tree I have always dreamed for, #Clematis, #Roses, and rambling #Vines growing up every wall. It has been a riot of colour and delight since the day I moved in.

I had so looked forward to being able to share this beauty with my students, and also with you all, during the #ArtistsOpenHouse Events. But, with the #glassstudio closed to visitors and #classes and #workshops postponed I have now come up with another way that I can share this unfolding delight with you all.

I am inviting you to follow me in a journey of exploration through my secret paradise. From my initial photos of the new beauty that unfolds and surprises me each day - there is always something new sprouting up - through to showing you some of the processes I use as I develop each image into unique series of one off pieces of #original #glassart that mark my time in #IsolationThroughtheGardenWindow. I will be using my fused glass skills as well as my traditional stained glass skills to create a series of stained glass panels and some rather special little fused pieces that will fit beautifully in with each of the themes I choose. Each piece, when completed, will be available to buy through my website.

I will be donating 20% of sales from this collection to the #NHSHeroes Appeal. - https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/WSHTHospitalHeroes.

#LoveYourHospital is the official charity for West Sussex Hospitals and is supporting the health and wellbeing of the tremendous staff at St Richard's, Worthing and Southlands Hospitals who have looked after me and my family on many occasions over the years.

For those of you following my blog, if you see a piece developing that you feel would bring you joy, please let me know and I will ensure that you receive first refusal once the piece is complete.
