Stained Glass and Glass Fusing Workshops and Mentoring sessions
I have been teaching glass in its many forms for over 25 years, working with everyone from complete beginners through to more advanced artists. My approach has always been to keep classes small, personal, and supportive, with no more than three people in any session. This allows for focused guidance in a calm, creative environment.
For those who catch the bug and wish to continue developing their skills, I offer mentoring and individually tailored, skills-based workshop days. These sessions are designed to help you build confidence, refine technique, and explore new directions within your own practice.
If you already have a project underway and are familiar with my studio, I can also offer studio hire, with additional tuition available as needed at prices agreed according to each individual project. I like to work closely and collaboratively with my students.
Through open discussion, shared ideas, and a willingness to explore solutions together, we can often unlock approaches that might feel out of reach when working alone. Whether you are developing a specific piece or simply value being in a creative space with others, the studio offers both guidance and encouragement in equal measure.
Stained glass is an ancient craft with endless possibilities — and it’s far more accessible than you might think. In my own practice, I bring traditional leaded light techniques together with contemporary processes, constantly exploring how this beautiful heritage skill can continue to grow and evolve in the modern world.
My classes are small, friendly, and welcoming to complete beginners as well as those wishing to develop further. I teach the foundations clearly and patiently, because glass isn’t about talent or mystery — it’s about time, practice, and building confidence step by step.
With over 30 years of experience — from self-taught beginnings to a BA (Hons) in Glass and Ceramics — I now divide my time between the UK and New Zealand, often spending the winter months teaching in Aotearoa. In recent years, a major commission and further study have meant fewer course offerings — but I am delighted to be returning this Spring and Summer with a comprehensive programme of workshops.
Places are limited, and studio spaces are intentionally small, so if you’ve been thinking about learning, now is the perfect time to join me.
"Glass has a way of surprising you — and that’s part of the joy".
