£150 | Full Day Workshop | Maximum 2 Students

Spend a full day immersed in learning the creative possibilities of fused glass in my peaceful garden studio

This relaxed and highly individual workshop has been designed for complete beginners, as well as those wishing to reconnect with their creativity and explore glass in a more personal and

expressive way.

Unlike many larger workshop environments, I only ever teach very small groups, allowing time for conversation, individual guidance, and the freedom to develop ideas organically throughout the day.

Working with a wide selection of Bullseye glass, powders, frits, stringers, studio-made glass dots, and glassline paints, you’ll be introduced to a variety of fused glass techniques and creative approaches. Throughout the workshop I’ll demonstrate ways of layering colour, creating texture and movement, and building imagery and pattern within the glass.

You will explore:

 - Glass cutting techniques

- Layering and composition

- Working with frits, powders and wafers

- Stringer and line work

- Reactive glass combinations

- Creating texture and depth

- Mark making with glassline paints

- Designing for curves and slumping methods

- Use of studio made elements.

Rather than following a rigid step-by-step project, students are encouraged to develop their own ideas within a supportive and relaxed environment. I strongly believe that creativity develops best through exploration, experimentation, and individual mentoring.

By the end of the workshop, students will usually create one or more finished fused glass pieces which may include:

- Curved waves and freeform panels

- Hanging panels or sun catchers

- Experimental sample pieces.

- Small bowls or soap dishes

- Decorative glass studies

Your work will then be kiln-fired after the session and ready for collection a few days later (or postage can be arranged).

A Different Kind of Workshop

After more than 30 years working across stained glass, kiln-formed glass, painting, casting, and architectural commissions, I have become increasingly passionate about helping people discover their own creative voice through glass.

My workshops are intentionally small, calm, and flexible. Rather than simply teaching people to copy a finished piece, I prefer to mentor students through their own ideas - introducing techniques and materials in response to the direction their creativity naturally takes them.

Many students begin with a single workshop and later return for more advanced courses or personalised mentoring sessions, where we can continue developing individual projects, techniques, and creative confidence over time.

Whether you are looking for a creative escape, the beginning of a new hobby, or the foundations for a longer artistic journey, this workshop offers a welcoming and inspiring place to begin.
