With over 30 years of experience in glass art, Jan Simpson creates vibrant and often intricate designs using combined fused, cast, and stained glass techniques.​  Initially self taught, Jan is now completing her BA in Glass and Ceramics where she has been refining and extending her skill base.

 

Based in Sussex, she works primarily to commission and also offers small workshops and mentoring classes.​  In addition to her commissioned work, she produces limited collections of smaller giftware pieces, available through local galleries and craft markets.

 

Originally from New Zealand, with a childhood spent in Asia, Jan’s work is inspired by her travels and the natural beauty of the Sussex coastline near her studio. While her approach is contemporary, she also combines traditional methods to craft unique pieces that fit seamlessly into both residential and architectural spaces.

 

​Jan is captivated by the way natural light interacts with glass, and often focuses on personal narrative and that of her clients to tell a story or save a memory.    Her work celebrates the interplay of color, light, and form, bringing depth and meaning to every piece.
