An individually handmade set of three contemporary glass sailing boats, created in graduated sizes.
Ancient ammonite forms spiral across translucent glass in layers of turquoise, pale aqua and deep ocean blue. The fossil-like pattern travels differently across each sail, recalling fragments of an ancient seabed revealed beneath moving water.
Created and fired together, the three coordinating boats form a complete miniature regatta. This colourway may be revisited, but the movement of the kiln-fired pattern and natural variations within the glass ensure that every regatta is unique.

THE STORY BEHIND THE REGATTA COLLECTION
The Regatta Collection grew from a lifetime spent around sailboats and the sea. Some of my earliest and strongest memories are connected with water, and sailing has remained a thread running through my life.
More recently, watching the racing from Felpham Beach and returning to New Zealand brought many of those memories back to the surface. While in Auckland during the Covid period, I was fortunate to attend the 36th America’s Cup. We travelled out by boat to the very edge of the racecourse, close enough to experience the extraordinary scale, speed and movement of the yachts as they passed. It was an unforgettable reminder of the power and elegance of a sail carried by the wind.
These glass boats are not intended as precise models. They are small responses to remembered sails, racing boats, shifting horizons and light moving across open water.
Each patterned colourway is created as a coordinating group, using individually made fused-glass sails and handmade glass stands. Natural variations within the glass and kiln-fired pattern ensure that no two boats—or regattas—will ever be completely identical.
Each piece carries a fragment of those experiences: New Zealand waters, sailing in Hong Kong, the racing off Felpham and the enduring feeling of being at home near the sea.
DISPLAY AND CONSTRUCTION
Each fused-glass sail rests on its own handmade clear-glass base, shaped to suggest a boat’s hull and finished with a polished chrome fitting.
Display the three together as a regatta or arrange them individually across a shelf, mantelpiece or windowsill.

The largest glass hull measures approximately 12 × 4 cm.
As every component is individually handmade, measurements, colour, pattern and markings may vary slightly.
The sails separate from their stands for secure, compact delivery and are easily reassembled on arrival.

Each piece is individually handmade. Minor variations in colour, pattern, dimensions, texture and small bubbles or marks created during the glassmaking process are part of its individual character and are not faults.

ASSEMBLY

• Carefully unpack the glass sail and its handmade base with attached chrome fitting and screw.

• Position the sail within the chrome fitting. On larger pieces, align the recess in the lower edge of the glass with the fitting.

• Check that the rubber grommet is correctly seated on the end of the screw. Using a Phillips screwdriver, tighten the screw gently until the sail is held securely in position.

• Do not overtighten the screw. Excessive pressure could damage the glass or rubber grommet.

• Once assembled, check that the sail is correctly seated and secure before displaying the piece.

• A small amount of movement within the fitting may be normal. The fitting is designed to balance and support the sail while the piece is standing; it is not intended to act as a carrying handle.

HANDLING AND DISPLAY

• Place the piece on a stable, level surface, safely away from the edge of shelves, mantelpieces and windowsills.

• Always lift and move the piece by supporting the glass base. Use your other hand to steady the sail within the chrome fitting if necessary.

• Never lift, pull or carry the piece by the sail.

• Do not move the piece by sliding it across a surface.

CLEANING

• Clean gently using a soft duster or dry microfibre cloth.

• If necessary, apply a small amount of glass-cleaning polish to the cloth rather than spraying it directly onto the piece.

• Avoid saturating the chrome fitting, adhesive or bonded areas.

• Do not place the piece in a dishwasher.

• Do not immerse or soak the glass, handmade base or fitting in water.

• Do not use abrasive cleaners, scouring pads or harsh chemicals.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION

• Protect the glass from knocks, falls, direct heat and sudden changes in temperature.

• Check the fitting occasionally and gently retighten the screw if the sail has become loose. Do not overtighten.

• This is a fragile decorative glass object and is not a toy.

• Keep it out of reach of young children and pets, taking particular care with the detachable glass sail, screw, rubber grommet and chrome fitting.
I hope you will be delighted with your glass. If you change your mind about a ready-made piece purchased online, please contact me through the website within 14 days of receiving your order.

The item must then be returned within a further 14 days, undamaged and in its original condition.

For change-of-mind returns, the buyer is responsible for all return postage costs and for packaging the glass securely. Please reuse the original packaging wherever possible. A tracked and appropriately insured delivery service is strongly recommended, as the buyer remains responsible for the item until it is safely received.

Once the returned piece has been received and inspected, the purchase price and original standard delivery charge will be refunded using the original payment method. Any additional amount paid for express or enhanced delivery will not be refunded.

I reserve the right to make an appropriate deduction if the item has been handled beyond what is reasonably necessary to examine it, or if its value has been reduced through damage, use or inadequate return packaging.

PERSONALISED AND CUSTOM-MADE PIECES

Pieces personalised or made to an individual customer’s specification cannot be cancelled or returned because of a change of mind.

This does not affect your statutory rights if an item is faulty, damaged on arrival or not as described.

FAULTS AND TRANSIT DAMAGE

Every order is carefully inspected and securely packed before dispatch.

If your order arrives damaged, faulty or incorrect, please contact me as soon as possible, ideally within 48 hours, and retain the item and all packaging. Photographs of the glass, internal packaging and outer box will help me resolve transit damage quickly.

Please do not return a damaged or faulty item before contacting me. If a return is required because the item is faulty, damaged on arrival or not as described, I will cover reasonable return postage costs and provide the appropriate repair, replacement or refund in accordance with your statutory rights.

The request to report transit damage promptly helps with courier claims and does not affect your statutory rights.
