Koru Arts Glass
About the Studio
In 1995, whilst living in Adelaide, Australia, Jan attended a beginners course in Stained Glass and, on her return to the UK, continued her education in Stained Glass - extending her skills to incorporate, fused, hand painted and lamp-worked elements into her work. Koru Arts was set up in 2002. In 2018, Jan relocated her Hampshire based studio to a smaller purpose built workshop in Bognor Regis on the lovely West Sussex Coast. Jan also spends regular time in her home country, New Zealand when she runs teaching workshops at Amokura Glass - a hot glass studio based in Rotorua, the beautiful Thermal centre of New Zealand.
Jan has been teaching fused glass and stained glass classes for over 20 years and offers workshops in her private studio with follow on developmental courses. UK workshops for 2021 will commence in May through to November. Take a look at the courses page for dates and details.
Jan regularly works on private commissions and often collaborates with other arts and craftspeople in order to produce works of note, including a set of three left hand nave windows located at St Frances of Assisi's Catholic Church in Ascot. These depict three Catholic Saints and their stories. These windows were designed and constructed by Jan and a team of artists over a ten year period.
Jan has a particular interest in weaving precious memories and your personal stories into commissioned work, and she takes her inspiration from her travels, the stories of our lives, the surrounding landscapes and the flora and fauna within them.
You can see a good selection of her bespoke glass splash backs, stained glass work, lighting and fused glass pieces in the Gallery.
If you would like to join Jan for a workshop, commission a piece for your home or business, or simply buy a gift for a friend, please contact her at Jan@koruarts.co.uk, visit the online store, or telephone her on 07447 406426.
