This fine art mug features imagery developed during the creation of a bespoke stained glass commission for a Victorian home in West Sussex.
The original commission consisted of a pair of decorative stained glass door panels featuring flowering irises and a dragonfly. Before committing to the final design, a series of studies and development panels were created to explore colour, kiln-fired painting techniques and the best methods for capturing the delicate beauty of the iris in glass.
The accompanying images document that creative journey, from the flower that inspired the design, through the original sketches and development process, to the finished stained glass commission installed in the client's home.
This mug allows you to enjoy a small part of that story in an everyday format. The rich colours and painterly qualities of the iris have been reproduced from my original artwork, celebrating the beauty of both the flower itself and the craftsmanship that lies behind the finished commission.
Whether used for morning coffee, afternoon tea or displayed as part of a collection, it offers an affordable way to bring original artwork into your home.
